Squeeze in a Fall Day Trip

I haven’t had as much time as I’d like to enjoy the fall season out and about but decided on a whim to squeeze in a little day trip while the kids were at school! Headed out to Blackwater Falls & Canaan Valley in Tucker County to enjoy the country roads. Started with a coffee and pumpkin muffin at Tip Top in Thomas while walking the street to see the shops & vibrant art scene. Headed towards Blackwater Falls State Park Lodge to hike around Elakala Trail and check out the waterfall (WV Waterfall Trail check-in alert!) while enjoying the peaceful trail. Few stops along the way at the overlooks before walking out to Lindy Point to relax for a bit. Lots of color on the trees but certainly has begun to peak early this year. After the drought in late summer, I wasn’t sure how the water flow would be but Blackwater Falls is always a joy to visit….plus snuck in a few swings on the Almost Heaven swing. If I had more time, I would’ve headed to wander in Davis and grab lunch at Sirianni’s or Hellbender Burritos but needing to get back, I grabbed pepperoni rolls from Mtn Top Convenience for my drive home. Quick stop to the Smallest Church & Post Office - always so cute. So much fall color on the way back weaving through Preston County (couldn’t take pics while driving but enjoyed the views!)
